Los Posadas is open to the public. - While living in Angwin I often ride my horse or run on the fire roads and trails located in Los Posadas State Forest. Park at the trail head at the sharp right turn.

Advanced Hikers only - I have climbed many mountain ranges in the Salzkammergut Austria and let me assure you; this climb is a strenuous trek if you plan on hiking the full range from table rock along the palisades ; this trail is not well marked and has a fallen tree over the trail difficult to cross the trail gave way for me in two places and has steep climbs along the way very little shade on the back side. There are 3 springs along this trail they are unreachable at the top however so bring 2 gallons of water minimum. Steep climb in the beginning trail is sometimes not marked well until table rock is reached. Palisades trail is rugged and sits against mountains difficult to keep footing . A few areas to break for lunch if you think you have the time. Once off the Palisades the trail winds around Holmes place and the option for Aetna Springs trail to the left if you parked on that side good thing Aetna Springs Rd will be a shorter route and The Oat Hill mine Trail to the right. It is a long descent which lacks mile markers as well as direction signs . Not for the elderly ! A long agenizing five mile descent down the old mine trail with rocks all the way. Takes 2 hours if you are moving fast. Drops you at the foot of the trail across the street is a pizza restaurant if you have the strength to cross the street. Total climb is around 10.5 miles Start climb no later than 7:30am The entire climb could take 10 hour with lunch. *** The views and scenery are breathtaking however! Gorgeous vistas!

Delightful riverside picnic area - The picnic area is wonderful: ramadas, picnic tables, running water; river access for boating and swimming, shade trees. Watched foot long lizards, wild canaries visit.

Private property lies within. - My property is within the exterior boundaries of the Mendocino National Forest . The Mendocino National Forest is a beautiful place to visit with lots to see and do. It is not a State Park, it is a National Forest, with many campgrounds, recreational opportunities and places to play. There is and always has been private property within the exterior boundaries of most National Forests. Please check with the local Ranger District for maps of the area and rules and regulations so you DO NOT TRESPASS on private property.

The Best Camping - My boyfriend and I came here in April for a weekend trip. We had a great time! The park rangers were very helpful and kind. We had a campsite very close to the beach, it was a little soggy on the walkway because of the previous rainfall. However the weather was absolutely perfect! I definitely recommend staying here. The best sunsets! If you want a fantastic place to eat head to the North Coast Brewery right off main st. We had a great dinner and sampled all their beer! A great vacation, we will be making this a yearly trip.

Beautiful Beach - Parking for any of the areas is $15 per vehicle, but beach and trail access to the park is free. The beach has a visitor center, historic information, maps, and cute shacks and bars for tourists. There are protected tidepools where starfish, hermit crabs, and anemone are easily spotted, and the water is beautifully clear. Usually you can see a painter or two out on the beach. Across PCH there are many different entrances for hiking trails, though they are difficult to access for pedestrians.

Hidden Treasure - It is not crowded, natural and varied terrain and has a shooting range. Great Hiking trails.
