Bull's Island Recreation Area comprises a portion of a small forested island surrounded by the Delaware River and the Delaware & Raritan Canal. A trail along the towpath of the canal reveals a lowland floodplain forest dominated by sycamore, silver maple and tulip poplar. Several rare plant species are found in this natural area.
Camping
Camping is no longer permitted at Bulls Island.
Boating
The park offers a boat launch for easy access to the Delaware River, providing opportunities for boating and fishing. Canoeing is also popular due to calm waters and scenic surroundings. However, visitors should note that there are no rental facilities within the park itself; they must bring their own equipment or rent from nearby providers outside of the park's boundaries.
Fishing
Anglers can enjoy river fishing along the Delaware River, targeting species like smallmouth bass and shad. Other options include catfish or walleye in freshwater areas.

Picnicking
Bulls Island State Park offers scenic picnic spots with grills, tables and restrooms. Alcohol is not permitted in the park.
Bicycling
For cycling enthusiasts, the park offers several trails suitable for biking. Be aware of uneven terrain and wildlife.

The D&R Canal towpath is a popular choice among bikers due to its flat surface but can be crowded at times.

While enjoying your bike ride, remember that some paths may not allow bicycles so always check signage before proceeding.

Riding after dark isn't recommended as there are no lights on the trails and visibility can become poor quickly.

Be cautious while riding during wet conditions; slippery surfaces could lead to accidents or injuries.

Remember: safety first! Always wear helmets when biking within this area's boundaries.

Biking off designated pathways is discouraged in order to protect local flora and fauna from damage by tires.

It's important you respect other trail users - slow down when passing pedestrians or horseback riders.

Birding
Located in New Jersey, the park offers birdwatching opportunities with over 100 species of birds to spot. The island's diverse habitats attract a variety of migratory and resident birds. Birders can explore trails or participate in guided tours for optimal viewing experiences. Species include warblers, eagles, hawks and waterfowl among others.

Visitor Comments, Memories and Reviews
July 22 The park should be for the public by Public tubing!
park review stars; one to five Why does the park cater to Deleware River tubing? A compnay that made 2.2M using the ramps and blocking the access areas with their busses? Why not expand the parking so all can use the river and not just corporations!
